The passion driving my work is deeply personal. I am committed to ensuring that education is truly equitable for all children and educators. Having witnessed success for many, I firmly believe it can be achieved for all.
Jessica Burk
While I am deeply passionate about working directly with students, being involved in the implementation of services, and coaching educators on all aspects of special education and IEPs, I recognize the urgent need for change in how we approach the development of IEPs and 504 Plans. Too often, the decisions made in these meetings are not driven by comprehensive data collection and analysis, but rather by other factors that are not student focused. Having been in situations where I felt my voice was limited, I know many families feel the same as they sit at the table. This experience motivated me to channel my passion for education, advocacy, and coaching to empower families or school district professionals and help them become their child’s strongest advocate. Throughout this process, my focus is ensuring that every child’s IEP or 504 Plan is truly individualized and reflects their unique needs.
A bit about me personally: I have been dedicated to education since entering the professional field and have had a passion for special education since I was a young adolescent. I am blessed with a beautiful daughter in first grade and a sweet dog named Maggie, both of whom keep me laughing and busy. I earned my Bachelor's in Child Development from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX, and my Master’s in Education with an emphasis on Special Populations from the University of Houston (Go Coogs!). I firmly believe in lifelong learning and continually strive to expand my knowledge. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, working out, hiking, traveling, and shopping.
I feel incredibly fortunate to live out my passion and look forward to partnering with you to create meaningful change in our children’s futures.
